” EFH ” Essential Fish Habitat – Reef Balls

Are you aware of the federal mandates to identify ” EFH ” Essential Fish Habitat?

As you are planning for your restoration projects, you should review all the collected data.   I think you will find that various habitats using Reef Balls, are a must in your estuaries, nearshore and offshore projects.      Compare, all the characteristics of the modules, surface area, texture and habitat structure to see that you get the maximum benefit.

Accessing data on EFH, is made simple thanks to NOAA.

The  Essential Fish Habitat Mapper is available on NOAA’s web site.   Use this to map the path of various species  the Government has mandated they study,  as they mature.  This will be helpful in identifying locations for your restoration projects.

Don’t forget to consult with Larry Beggs  from Reef Innovations as you look for the right artificial habitat for your EFH.
