Readying reef balls for the water _ Hernando SunFrom the 1990’s there have been school projects involving building, deploying and monitoring Reef Balls.
An early project was in Dixie County Florida and another in Duval County. Since those days many projects have reached out to classrooms, and after school groups. In fact it is expected that each project using Reef Balls should have an educational component. The local involvement always excites community involvement, but more there is a lasting ownership of the project. Students can return to dive, survey or fish on a project they were involved in. This encourages local conservation efforts.
